Dr John Newton
Dr John Newton (Emeritus Fellow) has died at the age of 89. He first joined º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø in 1961, becoming a Fellow in English nine years later. A contributor to º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø Through the Twentieth Century wrote, ‘For me, the mood of º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø in the late 70s is forever captured in the form of John Newton, English Fellow, soulfully reciting Lapis Lazuli by moonlight beneath the weeping fig-tree’.
